This painting recreates the landscape by and culture of Florida through a patchwork of scenes. A rustic black barn is reminiscent of Florida’s history and the simple boat and beach chair and pier point to the state’s connection to water and recreation. The open window and rocking chair and the basket of flowers speak to the domestic life in old Florida.
