Toni Poll-Sorensen

Toni is a new artist. She enjoys creating abstract art. Flow art became her passion early on and during that period she created more than 100 works of art. Covid brought her time to think, to create and to play with paint.

Later on Toni started experimenting with brush work over the top of her pours. She created a body of work related to sea life and mermaids. During that time she embellished the creatures with dots using her brushes. This work then lead to paintings made exclusively with brushes. For a while, she explored using wide brushes, trying to get the whole body feeling of moving the brush.

Most recently Toni has gone back to the idea of painting dots. She now uses QTIPS, dotting tools, toothpicks and pencil tips to create her art work. Although she dabbles in water color, she works almost exclusively with Acrylics on canvas.

Her work features vivid colors in abstract landscapes, sunsets and sunrises, beach scenes, and studies of the female form and women’s issues and quirky twists on playful themes. Toni’s work might be described as whimsical.

Curriculum Vitae

Toni Poll-Sorensen, Ph.D.

Artist, PSILUVUART

I am an emerging artist. I began my life in the arts as a dancer, dance educator and choreographer. As a child, I was told I had no talent for drawing or painting and I believed it.

Later in life I planned and executed 26 large gardens on the 3 acres of land at my home. I always said, that gardening was like painting, but on a grand and more gross scale.

I have always enjoyed collecting abstract art and I started to paint during Covid. For awhile my paintings looked like I was channeling VanGogh and then I switched to Fluid Art. I loved that I could have a plan and then the paint took on a life of it’s own.

Eventually, I started painting whimsical sea creatures with a brush on top of the pours embellishing them with little beads of paint.

After a short experiment with 2-6 inch wide brushes I decided to try using  QTIPS as my painting tool. Now, here I am making paintings using lots and lots of dots. Not exactly pointillism, but similar. I love the possibilities it presents for creating texture on the canvas.
