This painting features an interesting division of foreground and background. That merges the sea and sky. The upper section is a background of serene sky-blue and the large face of a female figure with expressive eyes. The lower section is a deep rich blue that picks up the reflection of those expressive eyes. Vertical drips suggest drips from the swimmers wet hair or tears.
